CommentsThere's something about this one I really like. The unusual black border adds something, especially the top arch, and is there some softness added later,or is it the light coming thru the gaps in the canopy causing that effect, either way its a very pleasing image!

My blogs Trees [link] macro [link] spiders [link] *TreesWithCharacter *Photographic-Club It has that dreamy "perfect afternoon" feel to it with that soft blurriness in it, the tree itself does look majestic, so many twisted branches all branching off, getting thinner to the point where they become nearly invisible where they meet the leaves.

I <3 HDR. And the composition is fantastic. For all the fantastic patterns and shadows, taking a good photo of trees (looking up through the canopy) is reaaaaaaaaaaaally hard. It looks great to the naked eye, but capturing it in a photo is a challenge. You did it. The shot is brilliant. And the way you added the additional frame around it makes it seem like your 'are' looking at a painting. It's wonderful. Dreamy. Just utterly blissful. :9 -- who...... whaaat..... the..... omg....... giant zucchini??!! ~Joasia |

The light coming out from the sky penetrates the tree in a mysterious, almost magical kind of way. It makes me think of fantasy films like Lord of the Rings. I can almost picture Frodo and company sitting under this beautiful tree, taking a quick rest from their long and dangerous journey. I can even see Legolas climbing up to serve as a sentinel and see if there's any enemies coming in their direction. Yes, I think I went too far with my imagination there. Haha.
The only thing that I'd suggest changing here would be the framing. I'd love to see the shot taking all over the area to the white border. The shaped black borded seems a little bit distracting to me.
Other than that, this is almost perfect. I love the serenity this shot emanates. Lovely work.
